How We Almost Doubled Our Followers In Under Two Weeks
by JAZ Creative
Back in May, whilst reviewing our social media activity, it was clear our Instagram page was stagnant with around 900 followers. The team
at JAZ decided on a goal of gaining 200 new Instagram followers organically within 2 months to break through the 1,000 follower barrier. Crazy?
Possibly, but we love a challenge.
Firstly, we put our heads together and developed a strategy as to how we were going to achieve this goal. We then wrote our content, before
setting about designing some really eye-catching graphics.
We focussed on a mix of content including; items from our portfolio, JAZ day to day, showcasing clients, fun facts, design history, local
information and events. The content needed to be captivating, engage our followers and the graphics had to make people stop and take notice.
Once we’d established the best days and times to post, we set up a schedule and got to posting. As we were looking to grow our page, it was
important that we posted frequently and consistently to keep our loyal audience engaged with great content and to keep JAZ front of mind.
It’s no secret that Instagram’s organic reach algorithm has changed greatly in recent years. This makes freshness and genuine engagement
with followers more important than ever. To combat this lack of reach, many brands have experimented with strategies ranging from posting
only once per week to posting multiple times per day.
We considered posting up to 3 times per day but decided that for us, once a day was a manageable commitment that provided the consistency of
posting and exposure we wanted.
Engaging with our new audience was really important to us. We started conversations, commented, liked and followed back. The number of
followers was increasing day by day and it was so exciting to watch. We made sure we added locations, tagged local businesses or clients we
were working with and included up to 15 relevant hashtags per post.
A post with at least one Instagram hashtag averages 12.6% more engagement than posts without a hashtag. So it really is worth creating a
hashtag strategy if you want to grow you page.
Hashtags are still an effective way to get more eyes (and engagement) on your Instagram posts by helping in the process of content
With the right strategy, content, graphics and post scheduling we didn’t just meet our crazy goal, we smashed it – increasing our followers
by 800 to around 1,700.
